Missouri
The Missouri legislature chose not to consider legislation in 2018 that would have effectively banned vision care telehealth in the state.
Legislation (SB 1100) effectively banning consumer access to online vision testing failed to get a hearing in the Missouri legislature during the 2018 legislative session. If enacted, this legislation would have created an artificial government-protected marketplace that required consumers to go into an optometrist office for a vision check to renew a prescription every year. It would have raised costs for patients, decreased access to care and removed a convenient, safe and effective eye health tool from the Missouri marketplace.
