Minnesota
The Minnesota Legislature approved, and the Governor signed, legislation that supports online vision testing, while providing appropriate state oversight to ensure the safe and effective use of these services.
In May 2019, legislation (SF 544 and HF 559) was passed in Minnesota that recognizes the value of online vision testing services — their ability to lower health care costs and increase access to care. This legislation represents a compromise between optometric providers, eye care physicians and technology providers. It provides necessary oversight of vision testing services, while allowing their use.
