Florida
The Florida Legislature adjourned its 2019 legislative session without taking up a proposed provision that would have effectively banned vision care telehealth in the state.
Special interests tried but failed to attach a provision to a general telehealth bill that would have effectively banned consumer access to online vision care in Florida, including online vision testing and online prescription renewal services. If enacted, this provision would have limited access to eye care for millions of Florida citizens and would have been particularly harmful to Hispanic communities who often live in areas with few eye care providers nearby.
