Washington
Thanks to your great advocacy, we’ve got a deal in the Washington Senate that preserves ocular telemedicine in Washington State.
We started off the 2020 Legislative session working to stop a bad bill in the Washington Senate to ban ocular medicine. Your hard work and powerful advocacy raising concerns about what would happen if a ban passed resulted in key Senate leaders bringing all the parties involved together to find a solution that protected Washington consumers.
The compromise bill being presented in the Washington Senate is supported by a diverse coalition of ophthalmologists,s optometrists, telemedicine experts, and technology companies. It preserves access to online technologies and allows Washington state residents to continue to use these time-saving innovative tools to get their vision checked and their prescriptions renewed online, without limitation just so long as access to and use of the meets the defined standard of care.
